It's time for spring things in Summit County, and that includes a new race series in Frisco, following in the long-time mountain town tradition of community ski races. The Frisco Adventure Park Bubblegum fun races for kids and families has an obstacle course race set for March 16, and the grand finale, a dual slalom, is scheduled for March 30, snow permitting.
From March 27 to April 1, Copper Mountain hosts the USASA Nationals, welcoming top amateur athletes from around the nation to compete in snowboarding and freeskiing comps. A few trails will be closed on and off during the event:
Please note the following terrain closures from March 16 - March 26
- Copperopolis (Alpine events)
- Woodward Central Park; one line only, TBD (Slopestyle)
- Fairplay (Boarder and Skier Cross)
- Superpipe (Halfpipe)
- Lower Bouncer (Rail Jam)
- Bittersweet (Banked Slalom)
Once the racers have left, the Easter Bunny takes over for what is billed as the world's largest easter egg hunt, featuring 50,000 eggs hidden across 2,500 acres (April 5). More spring colors are on tap the following weekend (April 11) with the return of the Copper Mountain Color Run.
