It’s Always The Weather, As National Skier Visits Drop Slightly From Last Winter
Skiers flocked to the slopes in droves this year, but "weather challenges" across the country kept total skier visits about 5 percent below last season's, and more than 11 percent below the record 2010-2011 season, the National Ski Areas Association announced this week.

Snowsports Industry Sees Surge In Gear Sales
Skiers and snowboarders bought $1.46 billion worth of gear and clothing during the first part of the ski season, an 8 percent increase from last year, with sales of outwear pacing the climb. Sales began to pick up in late November and early indications point to strong December sales.
