Should you be prepared for avalanches at a ski resort?
Most skiers probably don't expect to encounter an avalanche when they're skiing inbounds at Colorado ski areas like Copper Mountain, Breckenridge or Vail. But last year, in two separate accidents, two skiers were killed by snow slides, one at Vail and one at Winter Park.

Sprint Grand Prix under way at Copper Mountain
Colorado ski snowboarding fans will get a first look at some athletes likely heading for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi when the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix comes to Copper Mountain this week. Qualifying runs are January 9 and 10, with finals set for January 11 and 12, 2013.

Copper Mountain’s Snow Day Pass returns for the 2012-2013 season
If you're a powder hound, you'll be glad to know that Copper Mountain is bringing back the Snow Day Pass for the 2012-2013 season. The pass is still priced at $99, valid any day that the resort reports 4 inches or more of snow via the official snow report, based on the previous 24-hour period,
