Copper, Sprint team up for on-mountain info service

Just as the snow starts to fly in Summit County, Copper Mountain and Intrawest have announced a new partnership to help skiers and riders get real-time on-mountain information.

SUMMIT COUNTY — Skiers and riders at Copper Mountain and other Intrawest resorts will be able to get real-time updates from their Sprint phones thanks to a new partnership between the two companies.

The move puts Intrawest in the forefront of the social networking loop valued by tech savvy consumers. Sprint’s SnowZone will offer information on weather, snow conditions and traffic report,s as well as video highlights of the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding during the season with the latest standings, results and team news.

The three-year deal also gives Sprint the exclusive rights to promote, advertise and market their wireless products and services at all of Intrawest’s mountain resorts in the United States, including Mountain Creek in New Jersey, Stratton Mountain Resort in Vermont, Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia and at Intrawest’s three Colorado resorts (Copper, Steamboat and Winter Park Resort).

“Effective and reliable communications are critical to the success of Intrawest’s business at our mountain resorts,” said Andy Wirth, senior vice president of sales  marketing at Intrawest.

Sprint will also be a key sponsor and associate-level sponsor at several key events throughout the year at Copper Mountain, Steamboat and Winter Park.
